Luxuriate in Leicestershire

It's a return to the usual two competition format after the May weekend. This time Market Harborough is our inland destination, not quite South Notts., but Leicestershire is damned close.

One HUGE point to note is that the Sunday is the Annual Market Harborough Street Arts Festival. The town centre roads are closed off during the festival (which will include where we are staying!). The event is scheduled to kick off at 12:00 noon, so the guess is that the roads will be closed at 11:00. Basically it's a case of no lie-ins unless you wish to wake up surrounded by white faced mime artists etc. (so no different for Lofty then!)

Directions to either the Golf Courses or the Hotel can be found in the links at the bottom of the page.

Friday Durex Shield at
                  Kilworth Springs Golf Club
         Course Web Site

Kilworth Springs Clubhouse

A welcome return to an old favourite from the FTBP days, in fact the site of the original BP versus Forward Trust competition, Roger Swales' home course, Kilworth Springs. There is a very slim possibility of the old stager attending if he can be contacted in time.
First tee-off time is 3:00 P.M.

On a transport note, just in case Dave, the following is a direct quote from the clubs' website - "A helicopter pad is available near to the clubhouse. It is requested that you contact the club, with details of your schedule, prior to your visit."

Saturday Suckling Pig Trophy at
                    Stoke Albany Golf Club
                Course Web Site

Stoke Albany Golf Club

The annual Pig competition takes place at the Stoke Albany Golf Club. The course is 18 holes par 71 of 6175 yards. Water can come into play on nine of the holes but especially so on the 9th, 10th & 11th, which must be tamed, then a good score is a distinct possibility.
How many times does the Fixture Secretary (the half of the Committee which is not Phil) have to be told that we DON'T LIKE WATER?
First tee-off is at 12:45 P.M.

Accommodation - Angel Hotel               Hotel Web Site

Hotel

16th Century Coaching Inn, so probably old and tired like me. Mixed reviews from previous stayers, so just our sort of place. There don't seem to be any flower pots outside of this one, but from the pic, there appear to be a few hanging baskets. The rooms have a trouser press so we don't want to be hearing stories of people re-heating kebabs for breakfast!

The Hotel doesn't appear to have a web presence of it's own so the link above is to a Rutland Business Directory page which does show the facilities.
